“The son of god will suffer the pain we all feel when someone we trust turns against us. The betrayal will bring about His death in agony. This He will do, for us.”

Reading this passage in Forward Day by Day made me realize how little my pain actually is. Dealing with a recent heartbreak has been tough on me, ending a three year relationship was harder then I thought it was going to be. I’ve had feelings of depression, regret, sorrow, anger, betrayal, amongst other things. When I read Wednesdays passage in Day by Day, I was able to stop feeling sorry for myself and put things in perspective. Jesus gave his life in light of pain and betrayal, and He did this for me. Although I thought it was the end of the world, I couldn’t help but be grateful for the pain Christ experienced so that I could have life more abundantly. This simple passage inspired me in many areas, one being to finish the personal statement for grad school that I’ve been procrastinating on. I felt an obligation to live unapologetically and to the best of my ability. I realized I can’t sit in my room and cry forever, I have to go back out in the world and try to make it a better place, and be a support system for another young girl who will experience heartbreak one day too.

Another inspiration came to me via Facebook. I stumbled across a quote: “Having a rough morning? Place your hand over your heart. Feel that? That’s called purpose. You’re alive for a reason. Don’t give up.”

So thank you Lord, for sending Your Son who carried the pain of the world (including my heartbreak) on His shoulders. And thank you even more for putting me on this earth for a purpose. I’m anxious to do Your will.
